Game Design Competition Information

Competition Details


  • Development Platform: All games must be built using Unreal Engine 5.5.
  • Provided Equipment: Each team will be provided with two computers by the event organizers.
  • Software: Teams will have access to the following software: Unreal Engine 5.5, MS Visual Studio, Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya, Blender, and 3DS Max.
  • Assets: Environmental asset kits, including sound, will be provided. All computers will have identical assets pre-installed.

Rules

 

  • Development Scope:
    • Games must be developed using only the provided asset kit or assets created during the event using the supplied software.
  • Prohibited Resources:
    • Teams may not use outside computers, code, or software. Internet access will not be provided during the event.
  • Team Composition:
    • Each team may have up to three members. Individuals entering without a team may be assigned to a Wildcard team.
  • Coach Restrictions:
    • Coaches are not permitted to access the development environment. However, technical support and Judging Developers will be available to assist teams if needed. Competitors may consult with coaches outside of the development environment.

Awards

 

Teams will be recognized in the following categories:

  • Mechanical Mastery: Outstanding gameplay mechanics.
  • Artistic Vision: Exceptional artistic and visual design.
  • Unreal Excellence: Excellence in coding and technical implementation of Unreal Engine.
  • Operational Distinction: Exemplary teamwork and production skills.
  • Best in Show: Overall excellence across all categories.

Judging

  • Judging will be conducted by a panel of industry developers and local business experts.
