Students will be designing in Unreal 5.1.
In order to ensure fairness, assets will be provided in a game kit. Computers will not have access to the internet. You will also have access to Maya and Blender, if you would like to build on site.
Each team will be provided with two computers. They will have Unreal 5.1, Maya, Blender, and Visual Studio pre-installed.
Development teams are 2-3 students.
All participants must be current high school students that are accompanied by their sponsoring teacher. Space permitting, we will also have an Atkins Alumni exposition, but they will not be competing.
It's a good idea to practice before the competition begins. The format can be very challenging, both mentally and physically.
The Winston-Salem Innovation Council will be providing the prompt on Friday at the Developer Reception. Development teams are encouraged to plan and practice before the start. They will be able to work on the game any time during development hours, right up until the judging begins at 2:30 on Sunday. We will be running the games in-engine, so they don't lose development time on publishing.
The judging panel will consist of outside industry experts and local business professionals.
We will be using screenshots and clips from the games to show off your great work, but you are welcome to take the game with you. You will be responsible for any licensing related to use or further production. If you are coming from out of town and want to take your game with you, make sure that your instructor brings appropriate storage.
